Default Radio working right after 14 years. How to use E/T?

I always thought the original ,Ford P32 for the experts, radio malfunctioned due to bad ground of the antenna. But it was bad mounted AMP connectors and speaker connector by the Ford dealer in 1978.
Cost: many scratches on my hand from sharp parts behind the dashboard.
Clock working like a charm too.
Don't know how to use the E/T function though. Anyone who can explain please?

That's the Clock in the Mustang Center Console Information Message Clock Display.

In the States, that button is labeled "E-TIME".
Regardless, it's for the worthless Elapsed Time Function.

The following gives some idea of how the buttons typically work.

    Using Elapsed Time
    Depress E-Time button.
    Release, then depress L/S button.
    Release.
Clears to zero. Starts counting with colon blinking on and off?

    Stopping and Restarting Elapsed Time
    Depress R/S button. Release.
    Stops counting - Flashes.

    Good Luck!

Looks like the early clocks worked a bit different than later versions.
From my 79 owners manual and actual use:
Turning ign switch to run or acc displays date for 5 sec then defaults to clock.

Pull and release e/t timer button to zero out and restart timer. Clock will reappear.
Push e/t button in to latch timer for continuous e/t readout.
Push e/t button in again to release latch from continuous e/t readout back to clock.
Pushing date or time button will also release a latched e/t button back to clock.
E/t button cannot be pulled out for reset unless unlatched.

E/t timer can be paused and restarted as a stopwatch, when in e/t latched mode, using the tiny clock and date number advance buttons above clock. L is stop, R is restart. Different than newer versions.

Handy to time anything. How long waiting in lines, how long in store, elapsed time from A to B, cooking food on engine, battery charger time.
After 59 minutes and 59 seconds, four digit florescent display changes from minutes/seconds to hours/minutes, up to 100 hours.

    Stupid DST starts 3/14.

Thanks guys, after work going to try it.
This is not the original clock although from 1979 car. Mine october 78 built car had the same but the letters were orange. Not white. That one did not work, suffered some impact.
    Regards, Hans.

Thanks for the explanation. Spot on.

How bout the unsurpassed music power of the mono radio, single speaker sound system?
Tried to upload sound clip, but too large.
