Default Junkyard 1986 Mclaren Runs and Drives!

Bought 1986 ASC Mclaren convertible #180 out of a junkyard in Minnesota in late December. Had the car delivered to me. All the tires were blown however the car was very complete and rust-free!

All I have made time to do is buy a battery, new fuel pump and pressure wash the car. Went to our lake home in Alabama this weekend and kicked the ole girl off at Kendal Coker's house for a fuel pump install and git it running!

Kendal installed the fuel pump in the original and still clean gas tank along with a new rubber filler tube grommet and the damn thing RUNS! Picked the car up yesterday on the way back to Nashville and DROVE THE CAR around the circle yesterday.

Not bad for another JUNKYARD PURCHASE!

Pics to big to upload. Want to see pics go to ASC mclaren facebook page.

Interesting in that this car still has what's left of the original WHITE TOP AND WHITE SEATS. I have been told that this top/seat combination was not available however here it is and it's the original stuff. This car is #180.

Top is original "White" vinyl top and seats are original Recarro "White" leather.

Here are some pics of the car in the JY and after pressure washing.

Interesting. I thought that all the tops were quality cloth, not vinyl. The seats are white leather?

    Yes seats are white leather.

Rest of interior is blue and completely original. The blue carpet will clean up nicely. Original radio, steering wheel, radar detector and what's left of the woodgrain dash stick on.

Top is white vinyl. I have checked the top and it is the original top to the car. No evidence of ever being replaced.

I have disassembled the seats to see about rebuilding the seats and they still have the original white leather and have never been messed with.

Wheels show orange paint under the blue paint.

It is always sad when there are nicer cars in the junkyard than in your own driveway. lol

    Nice score/save.
