Hello All! I am thrilled to be part of this site and look forward to absorbing some good tips regarding my Four Eyed Fox. I am the original owner of a 1985 GT which I bought brand new back in December 1984. I had just graduated from college in the fall and this was my first new car. I have kept it stock over the years but now find myself needing to freshen the engine and engine bay. Lots of wear over the past 36 years. Finding parts seems to be a real issue. I'll be posting some "asking for help" messages in the coming days.

And here's an old photo I took of the car on Daytona Beach shortly after I bought it:

Welcome to the site. Your car looks great. You have taken great care of it. Pretty cool you are the original owner and have kept it all these years.

Welcome! Fine looking car. Beach shot with shades of blue was perfect excellent thinking.
Always wanted that blue color. And a stock GT? WEW. No matter if stick or auto.
Buying our cars back then was one of the wiser decisions we made at that age.
As a new gift and reward for goal accomplishment was all the more positive.
Taking an early first pic is good for comparisons. Did the same for mine parked in front of house the first day.
Being first owner has advantage of knowing true car history. Keeping records since then helps keep mine alive.
Good idea to plan refresh the car when intact, correct parts available, and is not beyond hope.
Now, with digital cameras, taking pics of everything is easy. Storing them is very helpful to study it forever.
A Marti Report is like a birth certificate. Highly recommended if not done already.

Welcome to the site Bob! That look like a really nice example and nice to see fairly stock examples are still around. I'd freshen it up but leave it as stock as you can. These cars seem to be going up in value these days!

As for parts, there is typically something available new or gently used unless it is some more rare NOS parts you need.

Thanks much! My first 2 Mustangs were both used and rusted out due to harsh Ohio winters (where I grew up). I vowed that when I could finally buy a new Mustang I would keep it in good shape and hopefully never get rid of it. So there you go! I have all the original paperwork on the car...bill of sale, window sticker, brochure, manual, etc. I still love the car and it's funny....still fits like a glove when I drive it!

Thanks Darran. My intent is to keep it stock. They seem to be coming out with more and more repro parts. But I'm finding that 85 year only parts are very scarce. And the used things I come across are not that great. I'm hoping this site will help direct me to things I need. Really glad to be here!
