Default Good place to get carb Holley fixed/rebuilt ?

My 85Gt’s carb has a leak that I’m not sure how to fix. Think I’d rather just send it out to someone that’s familiar with this issue to have it fixed & rebuilt. Not sure if it’s corrosion around the plug that leaking or what, but the car has pretty much sat all its life. 7,000 mi. Check out the pic.
Any good Holley rebuild companies out there ?

Holley offer the service. Can't comment on the quality, but they can probably do as well as anyone.

This isnt my carb in the pic. Guess I could always rob a front fuel bowl off my spare carb also.

Don't know if walking tall does them on the side or what but it seems he has a grasp on them.

If not, PM me I would go thru it for you.

I remachine every surface on the carbs. They are ALL crooked. Even the new ones suck. The gaskets hold for 6 months and then the carb starts acting goofy because of some internal leak. A rebuild ends up the same way if not corrected.

I did not paint this carb. I just resurrected it from the dead

    Thank you, Ethyl Cat.

After a couple leaky mishaps over the years, nothing that I refurbish/rebuild gets out the door here without those peened-in flat plugs (spread bore Holley carburetors have numerous such plugs) and the area cleaned up (wire wheel and rubbing alcohol) and them sealed over with jb-weld (marine - impervious to fuels) epoxy. Here's an example pic...

So, to just address the leak, the carburetor should be removed and tilted over so that the plugs are facing upward. If you fix it, do yourself a favor and do them both while you're at it. If you'd rather it also be completely refurbished/rebuilt, PM me if you'd like.

Well I got my carb back from the Holley custom shop and looks good ! They didn’t touch the idle solenoid but hopefully it runs as good as it looks now lol.

Very nice looking. Hopefully good for many more years of trouble-free service.

Mind sharing how much this service cost?

Too bad Pony Carbs isn't around any more. They disappeared after the guy that knew what he was doing passed away. That guy was a genius. For real. I watched a demo on a live random person's car at a show once. Car was hard starting, ran like crap. He had the guy start it and was like it's too rich the choke is too this, the jets are too that. There's a vacuum leak somewhere and timing is off. He started with the vacuum leak which, of course made a HUGE difference by itself. It was like an open 3/8" hose just sucking air. And put the screw driver to the carb and she was purring like a kitten in 30 minutes. SIGH...........I am old.

My estimated cost for restoration & rebuild with shipping back to me was 451.56. I haven’t checked my card yet.

John at Pony Carb was an artist. I watched him many times at the MCA shows. 90% of what he did was the basics but he did it with just a screw driver. Experience was certainly in his pocket. Restored prices are about double of a general rebuild so the price does not.seem too bad if it’s the Ford carb.

EXACTLY! That's what I said. Me too. That is such a great way to word it. His medium was a carb an is brush was a screw driver but he was an artist for sure!
