    Default Throttle bracket/ball stud length/geometry

Installing a Fitech on an Edelbrock manifold. Car was originally a 4cyl/4spd. I modified a V8 bracket to be square with and in line with the ball stud. But the bracket to ball length is about 7 1/2 ", the cable mount to ball receiver is around 5 1/4".
Bracket is the V8 79-85 carb bracket from LMR.

Wondering if I do need to spring for a V8 cable after all or go aftermarket, like a Lokar.

    Thoughts?

Have you been able to measure a V8 throttle cable?

If I can remember today, I will measure the V8 throttle cable on one of my Foxes to help determine if that will solve your problem. Won't be for at least a little while right now. Still dark this morning and 13 degrees right now.

Thanks, Trey. I would definitely wait for it to warm up! It's that distance between ballstud and bracket mount that has me.
I have not even seen a v8 cable since I sold my '83 hatch back in '08.

On a side note I ran it yesterday (Fitech will idle itself without a cable) and threw the accessory belt. Turns out the PS pulley interference fit didn't interfere enough. Nothing damaged thankfully! Measured the PS shaft and it is proper diameter. Used a hex wrench and turned the pump easily so not a frozen pump. Apparently the hole in the pulley was just slightly too big.

I just looked at my installation. I have the same measurement as you, about 7 1/2" from ball stud to bracket. I'm using a V8('85 carb) cable. My bracket isn't as nicely squared up as yours, but no issues here. I took a couple pics, but am having trouble uploading.

No worries. Sounds like I just need the v8 cable. Appreciate it!

Ordering the LMR cable right now.

I had a chance to measure the V8 throttle cable. I measured @ 7.75" from the ball socket to the front of the bracket the throttle cable is bolted to. The end of the throttle cable is @ 8" or slightly more in overall length. So I believe it will address your issue. If I remember correctly this was the same issue I experienced when I converted my 79 PC from 4 to the current V8. The OEM 4 cyl cable wouldn't reach the carburetor stud. So I swapped it out for a spare V8 throttle cable I had and it worked just fine. My setup was an Edelbrock Carb on a Weiand intake using the OEM throttle bracket. Soon it will be a Performer RPM with a Fitech setup too.

    Nice!
I did start it with the Fitech and look forward to not messing with carb stuff anymore. Easy cold starts, no choke to adjust, ...
That is, once I get the IAC adjusted properly. And a new PS pulley on.

Modified a stock '85 replacement bracket to work on the Eddy manifold. Works perfect using a replacement V8 cable.
