Default Interior pictures- keep or change red

Finally got my car garage finished up and will be starting to restore the interior on my 82. Its a silver car with red interior. Part of me wants to keep red to keep it original but part of me hates the red. I currently have a the red interior in car, a black interior minus door panels and dash, and 2 blue qtr trims . I was leaning toward red and black but more I think about black panels more I think its been done to much. Recently been thinking of doing a medium grey color with black carpet and accents. All of stuff on had is pretty faded so would need retouched.

    What you all think???

    1. Leave original red
    2. Grey with black accents
    3. Other idea

Any pics of your interior would be appreciated. I been on google for a while trying to decide.

I personally like silver with Red interior. Very unique and it's original. There are thousands of modified/2 tone/gray or black interior Fox's. I vote keep original. Those are getting way harder to find.

Gray is far more common than the red. Silver is a good contrast for the red. Leave it. $.02

Red! Black or Silver exteriors need red interiors.

The red interior is a classic, especially with that silver exterior...keep it that way and you won't be disappointed later...

Another vote for red. I recently went through the same thing with my 79 cobra...silver with red interior. I'm going to stick with the red.

Another vote for red. Way too many gray / black interior cars out there.

I had a white 1991 Cougar XR7 that had a red interior in it. At first I liked the red interior, but then the combination of the white exterior and red interior kind of wore on me. Probably more the white exterior (very hard to keep clean).

But in this case I am going to have top agree with the others, keep it red.

Another vote for red. I have a red interior on my GLX. It's not my first choice, but it's grown on me. I also get lots of compliments.Name: 00202_j2qRll2942e_1200x900 (1).jpg

Silver with red is a good option. I personally am not a huge fan of red overall and the ALL RED interior is just TOO MUCH for my tastes. With that said, a red interior with additional accents of black, grey, silver generally looks really good. I would highly recommend considering staying with the Red and adding some accents to the interior to tone down the ALL RED. Just my .02 in regards to how to add accents. It's a bit more work, but try and add the accents without it being the simple, yet not as affect IMHO practice, of just sticking black armrests on a red door panel. or black floor mats on red carpet. When done well and aesthetically pleasing the accent and contrast will really make the interior "POP" rather than look like you couldn't find the right color armrests, floor mats, etc.

Things such as contrasting stitching on seats, door panels, shifter boots, E brake boots, steering wheel wraps, etc. Sometimes using black carpet with mostly red interior can work as long as there are additional black accents and that isn't the only thing. Black inserts on a red seat upholstery, red inserts on black seat upholstery. The early door panels don't have the tweed inserts in the panel like the 87-93 cars, but little things like black stitching on the door panel in place of the faux stitching on a red panel (or vice versa) can add that POP and contrast that helps break up any solid color interior.

My plan is do the same, although a bit more custom interior in my 82 GT. Mine is Lime Green accents in the normally all black interior. NOT TOO much Lime Green as to make it look cheap or Boy Ricer, but enough to break up an all black interior and give the look a POP it doesn't normally have. My door panels and dash are custom, so that gives me some options I normally wouldn't have, but still the same idea as mentioned above. I highly recommend looking at some of the new car model interiors, especially upper end vehicles to get some ideas. Most of it can be subtle, but make a huge impact. Good Luck!

I hate red interiors too. I'm doing metallic silver 1E with charcoal grey interior. It's not an 83, it came out in 84.

I'd change everything to black but keep the seats red.
