Posting for a friend-i take it the kmember is the same, wondering if the stock C5 trans is just as strong as a V8 C4, i've heard theyre similar and just require C4 valve body bellhousing and converter change to work with 5.0 ?

Our Hawian guru is Ourobus. Hes been doing this for 15 years and has great advice borne from Experience!

Two posts to consider:- pre 86 CFi 3.8---> carb 5.0

And CFi 3.8 to Sequential Port EFi on 86 to 93s.

The AOD 5.0 164 teeth flexplate fits the V6 3.8 C5 trans. The two have different unbalance...the V6 shares the old 4.2 V8s 28 ounce unbalance, the 5.0 has a combined 50 ounce unbalance with 34 on the flexplate and 50 on the crank dampener pulley. Any 5.0 C5, AOD flexplate with 164 teeth will work real nice with a V6 3.8 C5.

The clutch lockup isnt serviced, but you can pop in the C4 truck converter, they are spaced to suit the C5.

C5s were not great, but just F truck C4s with a bigger bellhousing with and extra half inch on the front.
