Default Voltage reg with 3g swap on 82/ adding ground

Ok guys I know the wiring is as follows below. My question is do I just toss the factory voltage regulator? I know the amp meter wont work anymore. I

-Green from alt to green to regulator
-Yellow from alt goes to yellow at regulator or to output post
    -White gets looped at alternator
    -Red at regulator gets capped.
-Replace wire from alt to starter relay with 4 gauge and fuse

I want to add a better ground. I thinking of changing the factory ground to 4g. Replacing the strap from trans to firewall with 4g. Should I add more? Maybe from each side of block to frame?

They do make a kit to replace the voltage regulator and splice in 1 wire to keep everything including the amp gauge with 3G.

Yes I know that but I dont really care if the gauge doesnt work. I seen a few posts on here about removing the regulator it and just wanted to confirm.

Beefing up your ground connections is never a bad idea.
I bought the PA performance upgraded regulator. I only have the ALT light on the dash, but I want it to work so I know if the car is not charging before it dies suddenly in a surprising fashion.
