Question 1981 upgrade?, no "onion" head strut bushings

I posted on the tale end of another, older thread.. New post, same question. searched here "onion" head doesn't show
Lost???.. My son and I are redoing the brakes/suspension on our 1981 6 cylinder.. Will be a daily driver... Going the usual 89 & up Fox body, keeping the 4 lug. At some point, looking to add the 302 engine, "K" member, etc. and 8.8 axle going in. From what we are finding out (?).. The "Onion" head strut balls are near non existent. New struts are needed. Can we use the 89+ rubber strut mounting kit if the "onions" are not usable?.. It looks like there would be no issue but are we missing something?.

AFAIK, no, you're not missing something. The later strut tops should work just fine with your early strut towers. As some "proof" of that, Maximum Motorsports' caster/camber plates are the same from '79 to '89. (Speaking of which, my suggestion would be to go with some aftermarket C/C plates rather than just using the stock upper mounts.)
