Default 86 GT steering rack on 84 LTD. Which bushing?

According to my spreadsheet, I installed a re-manned 86 GT steering rack in my 84 LTD, in 2011
Have no idea what bushings I used, but they appear to be rubber and entire rack is moving
back and forth, steering @ rest, so I assume they are shot.

Was considering these bushings for replacement, Moog K8422
    https://www.amazon.com/Moog-K8422-Pi.../dp/B000C57ZUG

It seems when I look up 84 LTD bushings on ROCKAUTO, everyone
of them calls for the one piece bushing. Do the bushings follow the rack, the car, or it doesn't matter?

Personally I would recommend at least a polyurethane bushing for improved steering response. You can also go solid if you want to eliminate all steering rack unwanted movement.

IIRC, all that really matters is the bushing fits the rack mainly. The bolts holding the rack to the crossmember may have changed size but they can be sourced. Those are the only places of movement (ie- slop between bushing and rack or slop around bolt through the bushing)
I put an '89 rack in my '81 Granada and it bolted right up. Pretty sure the rack came with bushings (rubber) already installed though. I didn't try to install different bushings.
If I don't remember correctly someone will happily point that out.

The 79-84 cars used the larger rack mounting bolts (16mm). The 85-93 cars used the smaller 12mm bolts.

Most replacement racks come with both sets of bushings these days to cover the 79-93 vehicles.

Yeah, I thought about it. But not really needed on this car. It's more about cruising, than corner burning.
Just don't want the 30 degrees of steering play anymore.

Not getting a rack, so I guess I'll just try these bushings and see what happens.
They are for an 86 mustang GT, and that is the rack I got at the time, so we will see.

Will try these first and see what happens. Thanks for all the replies.

Got some time today and was able to drop rack low enough by just getting weight off tires,
removing one set screw on aftermarket steering shaft, and removing rack bolts.

Got out metal sleeves using ball joint tool

Looks like 1 piece bushings it is. And they don't really look that bad.

    Bolts and sleeves look OK

and where not slipping side to side against subframe

I guess it has to be bushings, so I ordered these too, supposed to be here Thurs.....

When I removed my stock rack bushings, I remember they did not come out as easy as I thought they would.
