Default Another MSD Tach adapter question...

Hey guys, I have a 86 GT here and I cannot get the stock tach to work.

Simple combo. Holley term X. 6al. MSD 8920.

Tach output on the box goes to white. Violet goes to c246 pin 12(dg/y)
Ground is the stock ECU ground in the pass side kick. Fuse 18(hot in run/crank) kicks on the adapter.

Msd tach output tests fine with aftermarket tach. I’ve tried 2 tach adapters-no change. I’ve tried different clusters. No change. Tach does not move. What am I missing here?

Has the stock tach ever worked?

I wasn’t 100% sure(I took the car apart for a customer right off the trailer) hence why I tried a known working cluster as well

Well tried another adapter, another cluster and no success. Called msd tech support and they told me I can’t run a 6al
Box with the stock cluster. So to anyone who’s accomplished this-the monopoly which is Holley Corp says you’re wrong. Lol.

I am using msd 6al, coil, distributor and tach adapter and my stock tach works fine. Will post picks of adapter later.

Same here, i have MSD 6AL, Coil and noise reducer , tach works fine. I'll also look and see what else is on there because I do believe it has some type of adaptor. Can't remember cause it's be a loooong time sine I've put that on my car.

At this point I’ve tried the 8920 as well as the 8910 and zero luck

I am using the 8920, 6al, blaster 2 coil and correct distributor for 302. No problems.
