    Default Value of 85 GT t top but with auto/efi drivetrain

    Found a nice black:red interior 85 GT t top with like 86k miles. But car is a auto with efi motor. Guy is wanting $10k for it. Are these auto/efi cars bringing a lot less money than a 5 speed. Car is clean. Don’t have any pics of it but all original and nice. What are your thoughts.

    I agree that the market is favoring 5 speed cars considerably over those with an auto. Can you post some pics? Hard to give a lot more input without seeing it.

    85 with auto is cfi. Most knowledgeable people would shy away from these and with good reason if you have to deal with passing smog. I think that would push the value down some. For an 86 maybe. I could be off on my values since they have gone up a bit. Asking $10K is fine, selling price $8k-8500. It might be worth it if it needs nothing because many repairs can add up to $1000 or more. I rarely see an aged car with miles not needing some repairs.

    [QUOTE=ddx77;1929874]Yes.

    New interior and dash, both oem. He had sent me pics of the original window sticker too.

    From the Seller - its an 85 GT, automatic, t-top car. ive had it about 12 years i believe now, my dad had it about 10 years or so before me. he did put an 8.8 rear in it and had a shift kit put in transmission. Otherwise i believe the rest is all stock except radio. fires right up, probably needs tires, they look great, but are probably 20 years old, i still go around the block on the, i ordered some, just havent made it to get them yet with this stuff going on now lately, my dad also had the trim painted black, he thought it was supposed to be black not light grey!

    Nothing jumps out as any issues. Just needing some seat belt sleeves. I would have expected a cleaner engine for the big $$.

    That doesn't look 10 large to me. 6-7. That CFI engine is not as desirable or as performing.

    Depends on what you plan to do with it. It does look really nice and clean. That red interior would tolerate very little sun before it faded some awful colors including pink and brown for some reason, ESPECIALLY with T Tops and I see none of that so I'd say it has been stored inside and parked a lot. Even the orange on the gauges is really bright appearing in the pictures. T tops are really cool and fun but also very "rattley" and generally leaky if you can't park it inside. The CFI/auto is not worth spending any money on as far as performance goes. However if you just like the way the 5.0 sounds and just want to cruise to the Soda shop, it'd be tons of fun. You asked opinions and mine is I would not pay over $4,500-6,000 for it because for $10,000 I could buy a carb car with a 5 speed.
