Personal taste and how much you push the standard envolope, and how much internal work you do, govern how big big can be.

Race cars in the 80's couldn't push past the 265 barrier, but they are easily at 275 with Hoosiers now, like No 32 and 33 Pine Pac Australaisia Group A Mustangs

Bear in mind, that Nitto 315's aren't 315's, they are 295's, so 275 is the maximum front and back with stock fender profiles.

When you go above the 16" wheel, or get a better width front wheel arch, or the more advanced aftermarket X members, adjustable spring perches et al the red sea parts, and you have options that didn't exist before.

I just love the Capri style pumped fenders of the Maier Racing Fender Flares for the Mustang Coupe. The black 335 is pretty good for a Fox with myxomatosis (non four eye Aero stang) Natch!

I just ordered new tires for the big wheels, 245/40r17 up front and 255/40r17 in back, same federal rs-rr I have on my ten holes now. Racing tomorrow and going with the ten holes and federals. I lost probably 6 seconds when I ran the fat hard tires (toyo proxes 4plus 560 tread wear). I want to lower it too with the new rubber, besides the stickiness of the federals the super low 23 inch diameter of my old 15 inch ten holes helps. Track tomorrow looks very interesting.Name: IMG_20201008_200739.jpg

In my avitar, those are 255/40/17s on 8" 01 Cobra wheels all the way around. The front had the sn95 a-arms which push the front track out another 2.5" over stock 86. The rear has a .5" spacer on each side. Fenders are stock, not rolled. Did have to run at least -2* camber and ride height at 25.25" up front.
