Default Little electric fuel pump sounds like a mini jackhammer?

Installed a little Holley MiteyMite (I think it's called) carb'd electric fuel pump. Ran power to it and it sounds like a little mini jackhammer instead of the 'buzz' I am used to with electric fuel pumps. I do have two filters on the inlet (the screw in metal one that came with it and a clear plastic one in front of it so I could see what gets pumped out) but I don't see that causing the issue.

Wondering if anyone here has had that happen?

I don't have any experience with this particular pump, but in general restrictions on the inlet can cause cavitation with certain pump designs. I see from the installation manual that it is intended to be operated that way with the provided filter. I'm thinking maybe the additional filter may be an issue. Can you try it without the extra filter?

The fuel pumps I have heard for carb cars will sound like that until the fuel bowl is filled. The float will close the needle thepressure 3-7#s will be built up and the pump will go silent.

You will hear the pump for a few seconds when ever you turn on the key before cranking the car. once again it is topping off the fuel bowl.

any more then that is an issue.

It just seemed odd sounding. I will try it with only one filter, just had two on for initial pump.
As it turns out I was dumb and bought too small a pump anyway. This one supports a max of 300hp so I am stepping up to the 400hp capable one. I will also rubber mount it.
Hadn't though about there being no back pressure yet (no full fuel bowls). That's possible.
