    Default Motorsport capri

hello, I'm new to fep. How can you tell if a 1985 mercury motorsport capri is real or just a clone? I have a chance to buy one an just wanna know if I'm getting a good deal or not. Its in rough shape as it sits now but I have all the parts to bring it back. Been collecting capri parts for years for my projects. I have a 86 t top capri that I'm doing a restoration on at the moment but if this motorsport car is real its gonna be first to finish. Also does anybody know where I can find the decal kit for the grand prix cars? Thanks for reading, I'll post some pics of my projects as soon as I can

Hopefully you can find the information you need here: https://motorsportcapri.com/

As for the graphics, I don't believe anyone is reproducing right now, or at least not normally. I believe several of the owners may have options for you to help out either in dimensions to get new graphics produced or to use to help paint the graphics on the car. Good Luck and let us know how things go.

Thanks for the reply. I went to that site but couldn't contact the guy running it through the site. Dont have a Facebook an dont want one lol. I will have pics of it Sunday. It is missing some parts like headlight an taillight covers, side ground effects an rear valance but the holes are there for the screws for both sets of covers. So I'm thinking its a real one.

SWEET! Congrats on the picking this up. Have always been a fan and wanted one, but never been luckily enough to be able to do it.

Interesting it has an Alpine and a Whistler. Is that Alpine a 7272? Any paperwork explaining when they were installed?

According to the website, 36 of the 46 came with A/C. That makes yours one of only 10 WITHOUT!

Congrats on your purchase. Great documentation to have. That picture in front of the dealer is awesome.

Here is another example of a plain Capri 5.0 ordered without a "GS" or "RS" option.

After the 1985 model year started the 'Capri RS' in the U.S. was changed to 'Capri 5.0L', and the "RS" embossed bodyside molding was removed. And for some inexplicable reason DAP put a "GS" badge on the hatchback liftgate. The buck tag on these "Capri 5.0L" cars continued with the "CRS" (Capri RS) stamping. Canada continued with the 'Capri RS' nomenclature in 1985 and 1986. This car is a Capri 5.0L (RS).

Thanks fascat. Big thanks to Jason for the documentation. The motorsport capri's weren't ordered from what I understand. They were in a rush to meet the deadline an grabbed whatever cars were available to convert into motorsport cars. Thats why there are so many cars with different options in the 35 that were made. Thanks foxchassis for clearing that up
