How can you tell an 82 radiator from an 83, etc

Hi

How can you tell an 82 radiator from an 83, etc

I have a friend who has some radiator’s, but the only markings I see is ‘Ford’ on top.

Are there any other identifiers?

Example, I found an E2ZZ radiator, what makes it different from an 83?

Most of them completely interchange. What matters is the inlet/outlet and height width. You have some flexibility on thickness.
Unless you are going for a concourse correct resto?
I forget the dimensions, but one of them is 19" I think.

I have not looked it up recently but the 84 svo radiator dates back to the early versions. V8 and 4 cylinder are similar. I would imagine the inline 6 is different.

Keep in mind that a part number from Ford doesn't necessarily match the year model of the vehicle. If the part is new for that year model, then yes it will have the same year model as the vehicle, but if the part is a carry over from a previous year model it may the previous year model or even several year models years. There are many parts on the Mustang and Capri that carry the D9ZZ part number for most, if not all of the Four Eyed 79-86 production. Subtle changes generally include an updated suffix such as A, B, C, etc. Here is the information I have that shows replacement part numbers for the different models, engines, and years. Looks like the e2zz was used on the 82 and 83 models with the 2.3 engine, with and without ac, with manual or auto trans.

Keep in mind that this is a revised part number directory. Without checking each part number individually in Ford's database, there's no way to know for sure what part numbers supersede or replace other part numbers. There may very well be an original E2ZZ for a 5.0 that ultimately was updated/superseded/replaced by the E3ZZ. I don't have access to Ford's database any more so unfortunately I can't verify any of that information. This list just gives you an idea of what the replacement part numbers are. NOT necessarily what part number was originally installed in the vehicle at the time of production.

When I took the drivers seat out of my 2001 Mustang to replace the frame of the seat back, the trim used around seat latch lever had an E4 part number. Assuming the seats didn't change through the rest of the SN95 run, that would be 20 years using the same part without revision!
