Thumbs down My 88 Pony Has a Boo-Boo

Bright day but no sun in her eyes it was 1 pm, light traffic, no obstructions, double yellow line.... yet "I didn't see you"........made a left right in front of me........

She admitted fault, working with my Insurance. Considering the prices these Fox Mustangs are fetching should not have to be totaled.
Fender did get into the door a bit. Under the hood looks OK but my exhaust has a leak now...

    I'm glad that you're alright!
Thankfully, the damage doesn't look too bad. It looks the frame is fine.

Next time, don't be so self-centered, and be in her way as she's doing very important things like checking her facebook page.

Imho, on the roads, I still want an Abrams M1 tank with 12 feet of ablative armor all around the tank.

The thing that makes me most upset is all the blood, sweat, tears and time I put into restoring this car all by myself back in 2012-13.

I mean, you didn't see a bright red Mustang coming toward you on a nice day....? Yes, I bumped into the back of a car with my 99 Mustang last year, my only accident since 1984. Not to make any type of excuse but when I hit that guy it was dark, cold, raining and slick out.*

Sometimes it's easy to miss the obvious.

A tragedy though since your work has no measurable value other than 'massive'.

At least the other driver isn't being a snot.

That sucks! Sorry man. That core support looks tweaked, which means the forward frame rails in front of the strut towers may be as well. The edge of the hood and the grill opening no longer line up. Hopefully just the angle. I had a teenager do the same exact thing to me years ago. All she could say to the cop was "BUT I HAD my turn signal ON!" And the cop kept saying, I appreciate that, but having your signal on does not automatically take precedence over everyone else's Right of Way on the highway. You can't just turn whenever you want because you have a signal on!

Thanks for the support guys. Looks like the fender is bowed so I think the support is fine. Driving home from work that day it drove straight. I hoping the inner steel bumper did some absorption.

Well, after negotiations I get to keep her and the insurance is giving me a payout of $4792.50. Not bad cause I just wanted $1200 to buy new parts.

Yep. $4500 for the body shop to fix and they said it's worth $6000 based on other 88 LX 5.0 verts that have sold. My payout is less fees, taxes and scrap value.

Oh yeah....the body guy that did the assessment told me that the rad support is a bit bent inward. I think I can use my buddy's winch on his pickup to bend it a bit back.

So sounds like overall you are satisfied so that's a good outcome. Care to tell us how you had it insured and who it was with for posterity's sake? Was it Mainstream agreed value, or Classic car insurance like Hagerty etc. Just curious who was that easy to deal with.

Very satisfied. Dealt with her insurance, State Farm. I had no idea they would value by recent past sales of similar car. Probably cause it's so old, maybe Blue Book values don't go back that far.

My insurance is Progressive, they have done me right over the years and being a Diamond member my little accident last Nov in the 99 Mustang did not count against me. All 4 of my cars are with them, only carry liability but do have roadside assistance.
