Default Mach 1 seat upholstery: Opinions requested.

Greetings fellow Four-Eyers...it's been awhile! I just installed a set of TMI Mach 1 style upholstery in my 85 GT. I really like the look (charcoal vinyl). Check out the pic. My question/opinion poll: Do y'all think I should put the Halo headrests back on? Once I do, I'm kinda committed for obvious reasons.

I vote no head rests, imo the headrests will make the seats look taller and will not look correct with horizontal pleats in the seats.

I agree, that upholstery will not look right with Halo's. Small black headrests from the standard seats would be the best if you want headrests.

I vote yes. They are supposed to be there on an '85 GT.

Yeah, that's what I've been wrestling with. The halos are kinda part of the GT's. However, I've been doing sort of Mach tribute resto-mod and not restoring it as a GT. In fact, since the paint shop there's nothing GT about it anymore except the fog lights. LOL.

    Build what you want

the old school seats found in the Mach 1 are no taller than an 85 seat minus headrests.

Visually many find the uninterrupted view across the car with the windows open appealing. That’s amplified in T top and convertible cars even more

To me, the look is more finished in appearance with a newer 24” back like is found on 93’s and the small headrests. That’s what we are doing in Devon’a 86 GT ragtop.

since you have the taller back buckets I would not put on a headrest
