New here, but not new to early Fox Mustangs having owned a 79 5.0 for 35 years now. My 79 has been off the road for more than 20 years, but started digging into it with my 17 year old son as he was showing interest. We have pulled the engine and trans, and doing general cleaning of the car. Car is quite solid as I bought it in 1985 but only drove it through one Michigan winter before storing it each winter. The car is a factory orange, but I am finding black on the undercarriage along with orange. I dont think the black is undercoating as it is smooth like paint. Were these cars painted black on the undercarriage? Still quite a bit of orange left in the engine compartment, but finding a little black there along with faded or thin orange. Was the engine compartment color skimpy from the factory when new? [ATTACH]133593
