    Default Rear glass rubber moulding?

I have a couple hatches that are in need of some replacement moulding... the metal strip that covers the edge of the glass. Evidently, this moulding isn't being reproduced and most of the used stuff is in pretty bad shape.

Has anyone ever swapped it for a soft rubber seal... something like what is used on some auto glass? Basically, you apply the rubber around the glass before installing it. When you set the glass, the rubber overlaps the sheet metal. Just thinking it may be an option and curious if anyone has done it already.

True. But I'm not even sure it would even be that noticeable. My 88gt was missing this moulding altogether and I sorta forgot about it. It didn't really stand out that much.

I am sure you could make something work if needed. One issue is that the glass is not flush with the surrounding metal as is the case with most late model glass. Also the depth of the channel around the glass may be a bit shallow for the rubber trim to get a good set. You can always give it a try and see how it looks. I have considered it too, but luckily I have enough spare mouldings that I just use them.
