Should an 86 GT convert have a hood scoop? and which way?

Could use a bit of advice... been out of the mustang thing for years... had an 82 GT some years ago that I loved, sold it for a T-bird SC... looking to get back into a Stang now..

Looking at a pretty clean 86 GT convertible that is local, had a nice paint job done about 3 years ago.. professionally. Owner swears its all stock.. but there is a 82 style hood scoop facing forward... I may be wrong but I thought the 82's were the only ones with that facing forward... not a biggie but it goes to seller's credibility...

Anyone have an 86 GT convertible?

OK, now a follow up to the last question... having an 82 GT back in the day... I am really not very enamoured with the ground effects... or lack thereof , on the 86.... is there a kit available that fits the 86 and has lines like the 82GT?
