What was the stock factory size? Is the car lowered? You do not mention the year of the car or what kind of car and that can have a bearing on things. Maybe add some info to your profile or signature?

On my Granada (admittedly not a wagon) it was a 195/75/14. Using stock width axles and front control arms with lowering springs a 215/45/17 fills it up right with almost no room to spare.

What year? What make of wagon?

This is a 255 60 15 on my all stock(for just a little longer) 79 fairmont wagon. I'm going to try to do 275 50 15 drag radials on mine but it will be on different wheels and a 8.8. I think you could roll the fenders and clear maybe.
