    Default Blainer's Barn Find.

As some of you know from Facebook, I recently located a 1983 GT Mustang with only 76,000kms. The downside is it was left under a pine tree with a tarp on it. The tarp and rear louvers saved the near showroom fresh interior. The exterior got harsh sunlight and weather for at least 10 or more years. There is also a healthy dent on the passenger fender. Under the car is insanely clean with the original cats and y-pipe still on. The muffler and original tip is long gone. I have started to buff the baked exterior along with some removal of some items to find all the pine needles. They are everywhere!!

Would anyone recommend rebuilding the original radiator or replacing it with a certain brand?

The original owner saved the cowl from debris by putting in this metal screen.

Here are some of the original tags for FoxChassis. No build sheet on drivers side floor pan. Gotta look in a few other spots.

Upon arriving home, I noticed dripping fuel from the front of the carb. The 37 year old gaskets need to be pitched and a rebuild will be in the works. All original tags and marking I documented.

    Congrats Blainer, cool find
The Buildsheet you are looking for will be found under the RH interior trim panel.

Thanks Bryan! I need to remove them next before removing the sagging headliner.

Nice find! I really dig those front wheels. Always wanted a set. I second that you will find the build sheet on the passenger side quarter plastic.

Got the correct size battery for it today and I had some new cables made as the negative was so brittle, the outside casing was falling off. They will suit it fine for moving it around and starting it if need be. Next is an order to rock auto and get the rad rebuilt. Name: 20200706_172824_HDR.jpg

I got the other 2 wheels as well. They still have the original Michelin tires still on them. Lots of grip but cracked and weather checked.

I've never seen these matching hubcaps before. They were used for the rear winter tires.

I run a mishimoto two row radiator, engine is 363, never overheats. Radiator drops right in using stock parts.

Good to know. I might just see about redoing my radiator first when the time comes. I just ripped out the interior for the headliner then found out when it was taken to the area where I picked it up, the guy left the window open a bit on the driver's side causing water to pool behind the driver's seat pan. So i took the carpet out to dry it out. Its been just over a day of drying and vacuuming the water out and it's just lightly damp. The floors are insanely clean mimicking the low millage.

They may rattle and wear grooves on trim, bit they help keep alot of sun out of the rear interior. The original louvers that were on the car.

Here is the trim I will need to replace. You can see the grooves that were wore into the metal trim.

I wish he would have kept in a garage too. He probably parked it after this happened.

There's a paintless dent repair guy here in Omaha that would make fast work of that one. Unreal the stuff he's done.
