Such a crime to leave such low mile car outside and not fully covered. This is the damage the sun did.

I tackled the interior in a day. Finding some surprises too. Best thing about a low mile car is that everything comes apart like it just left the factory.

Hatch area is crazy clean! Spare tire never removed and lug wrench is like new with the locking lug nut socket. No locking lugs to be found.

Near perfect dash. The sun must have peaked through and darkened two spots. I'm not going to even touch it. I put it inside out of harm's way.

I got news today that my employee medical benefits is running out as I've been on long term disability. Because covid happened, I was not able to go back to work after I had my defibrillator installed and I had recovered. I will now have to pay my wife's biologic medicine bills out of pocket or find a way to get something to assist me. Life just doesn't want be to have a mustang. I started a restoration now i may be reinstalling the interior and sell the car. F#%!ing hell!!!!

Really sorry to hear that. It may be little consolation but I think you may well be able to reaquire "an old friend" later if you need to let this one go now. Either way hoping everything works out for you.

Thanks for all the well wishes. I have sold a few other collectables I had. I recently put a set of cool Lumenator Fog Lights from the 80s for sale on the FEP Facebook page to help even out the cost of the headliner and other items the car needs to get it to keep it in its time capsule state. Here are a few pictures of the polishing progress to revive the paint and trim.

I forgot to show the neat clear headlight protectors.

I also started to mask off the trim to touch up all the areas that were down to bare aluminum or metal. I ran out of masking tape so i can finish the door. Huge improvement so far. I know I should have pulled it apart. I am trying to leave as much stuff untouched to keep its originality. Risk of breaking tabs etc is at a minimum.

    Nice first coat of primer.

Finished priming the door and painted it all back to black. I'll be installing new weatherstripping kit next then finishing up reinstalling the rest of the interior.

I got a sweet deal with my upholsterer and got my headliner redone in Scarlett red cloth. It is so close to the right color...just a touch lighter. I also reattached the original insulation material.

Thank you sir It's just one of those cars that needed to be revived not restored. I'm not sure about the original wheels. I ordered the Marti report to see if they were the original ones or not.

They should have. Some of the holes were a bit hacked too. They even forgot to close up the holes for the FORD oval badge if there wasnt a spoiler. I made sure I put dum dum putty in those holes before I reinstalled the spoiler.

I painted the grille in a previous step and forgot to show it. Anyways after a couple nice coats of primer, she got a few coats of trim black. Boy what a difference a bit of work can do to help revive a neglected car.

Buffed up one of the worst wheels on the car. If it turns out the car had these from factory, I'll hook them up with some 215/70r14 RWL.

Dived into the passenger side run channels and dew wipes. The run channel came out in chunks. I've never seen ones so baked.

wow thats looking great, love that red! when you do the rims try jacking that corner off the ground so the wheel can rotate. get some of those things that look like green scrubbers that you can put into a drill (I cant think of the name of those things) spin the wheel while using the drill to get a nice shine

Far-and-away, the cleanest Third Gen floorpans, I've ever seen. i.e. cars that were DD-ed at one time.
