Default in-tank fuel pump filter (83 Continental)

The new in-tank electric fuel pump is identical to the old one, except for where the filter attaches. The old one is 1/2" in diameter on the end and the new one is 3/4", so the filter won't fit. I see a lot of these filters for sale online, but most don't give the diameter of the hole. Anyone know exactly what filter I need here? Pic of both pumps below and the old filter...

Not sure why that is. For what it is worth, this Spectra Premium sock is listed on RockAuto for your car and they do spec a .75 fitting size. They also list several in tank pumps that say they come with the strainer, but none are shown in the pictures. All of the pumps look the same as your new one.

Every one I bought came with the new sock/strainer. Weird.

That's what I was thinking. I've bought aftermarket fuel pumps for various applications over the years, domestic and foreign, and the pumps always came with a new filter. The most recent purchase actually came with 3 different filters to fit different applications.

I ended up ordering a variety of these. They all fit and would have worked, but I just picked the one that was shaped most like the original.
