Default Still learning about the cars.

I scraped soundproof and insulation off of the floorboards of my 86 coupe and came across something that I could not identify. What is it and should it drain? After I scraped the floors, I cleaned them and rinsed them. The area in question looks like it held all the water and did not drain. Is that normal? Thank you.

That looks like a patch to me. Not 100%, but I believe that is.

As for "draining" normally there shouldn't be any liquid in that area, so no need to drain. The HVAC box has it's own drain line that runs out the firewall on the engine side to normal draining of condensation that collects in the HVAC box.

I thought it was aftermarket too, but found pictures online of other cars and they all had it also. It is under the sound deadener.

Looks like a patch to me too
    FWIW
The rectangular drain holes seem weird for a fox imho
every drain plug in my entire car is either round or oval.
I could be completely wrong tho

Where in the floor is this exactly? And is this a mustang, or a different fox platform?
