I am pulling motor/T5 from one car and putting into different car (hopefully in same day). Do I need to drain trany fluid? I never did on my 4-bangers FWDs but seems that its recommended for V8/T5.
Thanks in advance for the help.

I would. May leak out the tail shaft and leave a river trail over the front sheet metal.
Besides, sounds like a perfect time for fresh fluid!

Yes, drain required or, wire a yoke from a driveshaft into the end. I have an old one in a drawer for this. I used to bench press t5s out and in, on jackstands in an afternoon back in the 90s.
I just slap one of these plugs in whenever I pull a driveshaft.
