    Default Fog light replacements

Hey all, can a guy get replacement fog lights for the 84.5 cars? I assume 85 or 86 would work but I cant seem to find any at lmr or rock auto. I can find bulbs but not the glass/housing. Here is what both of mine look like. Thanks

I don't believe there are any direct aftermarket replacements for the Marchal fog lights. There are some other brand fog lights that you may be able to source to replace the Marchals (Cibie, Hella possibly) that may be close in size, but you would have to modify them to work (mounting, electrical connector), and once you spend your time doing that, you could have bought a set of Marchals for less work. Your best bet would be to either post a wanted ad in the classified section here, check Facebook or Craigslist to see if there is anyone near you either selling a pair or parting out a car with them still in them, or go on Ebay and find a set there. As far as Mustangs, the same fog lights were used on 79 pace cars, 82 and 84 1/2 - 86 GT's. They were also used on many other Ford, GM and Jeeps vehicles in the 80's. You shouldn't have a problem finding a decent set.

Thanks for the info. Do happen to know what other models of vehicles used the same ones?

As far as Ford goes, mid 80's Escort GT, Thunderbird Turbo Coupe and Lincoln LSC at least.

I thought the Escorts used the smaller Marchals?

Here is a picture of an 85 Escort GT that would represent the 83-85 model years, and then a picture of an 87 Escort GT that would represent the 86-88 1/2 model years...

Looks like the same Marchals that were used on the Mustangs. I also used to own an 87 Escort GT, and I'm about 95% certain they were the same size as on the Mustangs. When they switched over to the 88 1/2 model year body style is when they went with the shorter fog lights, and they weren't Marchals I believe, they were in house. That's about when Ford stopped using Marchal as a fog light supplier.

Hard to believe no one makes a replacement fog light for these cars. Seems like a easy thing especially from companys that make the headlights.

I really dig that GT. I would love a clean one like that. I stand corrected on the Marchals.

I am pretty sure they do. You can use a Cibie 35 Airport housing with a Marchal lens, and I have heard of using Cibie lenses on Marchal housings (but can't confirm this one). They look identical except chrome surrounds compared to black surrounds.

    But you want the 35's

So if I have the housings and they are in decent shape can I just get replacement glass/lenses for them?

This is interesting to know. I have a cracked lens on my 82gt. Not going for a proper restoration... just need a working light that keeps the stock look.

Yes I ran into this same issue on my 80 cobra a while ago and tried to find the lenses only but not easy and the one option I did find wanted almost as much as a complete set of good used lights.

Be prepared to shell out some cash for the Marchals though...as they seem to be a high demand/low supply situation and the price reflects accordingly.

I thought for sure someone would start repopping them by now. When I was building my pace car,I was hoping they would hurry up and reproduce the side moulding for the early fox. Luckily, they showed up on LMR's website right as I started working on the car. In retrospect, I wish I would have stayed 4-lug and taken advantage of the 16" TRX wheels. I may get lucky again and the Marchal repops will come out soon!

For my 82, I would be happy with a basic fog light housing reasonably close to the look and size of the Marchal.

Man I wish I knew some of this stuff before I bought the car as I would of haggled price down a lot more. I seen that they were broke but thought they were as easy to replace as headlights. Oh well, guess I'm robbing the ones off my 85. Can't remember if they work though lol.

Don't hold your breath on anyone making aftermarket Marchals. The company has long since closed, but I believe the rights to the name are owned by Sylvania. Though the fog lights were used on many different vehicles in the late 70's to mid to late 80's, there probably wouldn't be enough demand for Sylvania to produce them.

Sask84GT, I am willing to sell one of my spare glass lenses if that helps you. Glass is ok, metal surround is pitted with minimal paint left.

Looks like a hard to find item that could be stolen like hubcaps and now center caps.
Anther overpriced old item. Retail sellers, dealers, ask BJ or Mecum restoration numbers.
If sold low price, they get snapped up quickly or have many bids.
100.00+ for covers is nuts but is only money. Cat logo adds cost.
Amber lens were called 'fog', clear lens as driving, but lens fluting was key. May help in searches.
