I gave my 82gt to my buddy last year. I just had too many cars. It needed complete restoration, but already had an 8.8 rear end with 4.10 gear in it. I had an extra short block 302 roller sitting around, so I gave him that along with a ton of other parts I had collected for it. I even rebuilt a t5 for it and modified it to be a little stronger than stock.
I have a 79 pace car (almost finished restoring it) and a 79 cobra (just getting started on it). I also have an 88gt I restored a few years ago, with some nice performance upgrades. I have a fresh 408w sitting on a stand for a drag car project, but basically found myself without a car for it. I don't want to turn the pace car or cobra into a drag car. So I decided to do the only logical thing I could think of. I gave my beautifully restored 88gt to my buddy and taking back my crusty 82gt. He's fine with it. In fact, that was his favorite anyway.
He's going to help me build my 82gt and had already done a few needed repairs, such as new fuel tank, cleaned and coated underneath the rear area, new shocks and struts, brakes, and fixed the minor rust forming at one shock tower.
I'm going to miss the 88, but I'm a 4eye junkie at heart and this made more sense. He's a great friend and has helped me out more than you could imagine. Some things are worth more than money!
