I am wanting to do the same to my coupe. Did you make the mounting brackets?

Yes I did, some flat bar, angle iron, and a little welding and grinding to get them made. I have four mounting points inside the cowl with rivnuts for it to attache to when it's in. When I get around to installing it for good I'll get lots of video. First thing I need to do though is fill the gaping holes left in the firewall after the stock box was removed.
Last time out the breaker on my HO alternator finally failed, for good. I spent part of Saturday and got the replacement installed. It's working great now, however my fueling problem is getting worse. Now that this is taken care of I'm on to fueling. Pulled the float bowls and metering blocks Sunday and gave them a good cleaning, the fuel inlets had visible grit in them. Added a 20 micron filter before the carb and after a 10 minute drive I made it home and the filter was visibly empty. Time to move back to the tank, pump, and prefilter. I'm tempted to replace them all with a fuel cell and pump that can hold up to the flow requirements of the 408.

With the charging issue solved I've turned my attention to the fueling issue. What a mess it's been, grit in the carb, sludge for fuel, an undersized fuel pump, and discovering the 79's only hold 12 gallons? That won't feed my 408 very long if I'm having fun. Here's what I found when I went from the front of the car to the rear. This weekend I'll be working on the fix to all of this.

My hood scoop finally arrived, after a couple months wait time! Spent the better part of Saturday getting it installed, the fuel cell will have to wait a day. Fits well, now I need to learn how to prep and paint fiberglass.

A few updates since my last post.
I finally installed a 20 gallon Rhodes fuel cell and upgraded my pump, the fueling issues appear to be solved for the moment!

The old fuel tank looked like the alcohol blend fuel was slowly disolving 41 years of build up and making a fine sludge out of it, and, I was surprised to find out the 79 only had an 11 gallon tank!

And finally, a subscriber had asked about my Vintage Air controls, so I shot a short clip of them yesterday. I'm hoping to put the whole set up in this fall.

But first, on my last drive out I lost my physical connection to the clutch somehow. That sucked. Got to time every light and stop sign while riding the brakes home in third. I'm hoping to get it in the shop this weekend and find out what that's all about. It seems like it's taking forever to get all the little bugs worked out. But hey, it's a project car right?
