I know I should be grateful, and I am. There are many more parts available for my 1985 SVO than there is for the 1985 200sx I'm also restoring. Still this kind of thing is the bane of my attempts to make this junkyard rescue drivable again.

Every time I go into some area of my car, something I didn't intend to work on practically turns to dust at the slightest touch. This time, while replacing the window channel weather stripping on each door, the brackets which hold the power steering and door lock switches cracked apart as I tried to remove them from the door panel.

The easiest thing would be to see if there are any LTDs or Fairmonts or four-eyes in the junkyard. Or perhaps this audience has some lying around.

But I'm contemplating just getting aluminum door panels and retrofitting some 87+ door handles with the switches built in, or just getting dual-throw switches and placing them in roughly the same position.

Did anyone else have to replace these? please advise...
