    Default Fiberglass hood

Hey guys quick question, I have a fiberglass hood, the bottom of the hood is unfinished. My question is should I be worried about the heat on the portion that is unfinished ?

I don't think paint (if that's what you mean by finishing it) is going to protect much from heat.
I don't, and never have, had a fiberglass hood but I have not heard of folks having heat related issues.

Unless the paint has some type of ceramic or insulating properties it won't provide any actual protection from heat. I have had several fiberglass hoods on my Foxes, Cobra, and even my Super Duty over the years. All were painted by me inside and out and I have never had any heat related issues in regards to the fiberglass or paint. Hope that helps.

I put an original Under Hood Insulation for a 87-93 on my 84 fiberglass hood. took a 1/4" threaded pipe nipples and welded them to a big washer and used fiberglass resin and fiberglass to attach them the the underside of hood then used original factory push pins the attach the hood insulation to the hood.looks factory. I did the later model instead of 84 because I wanted the running horse on it and I moved the light to new locationName: 20200516_125538.jpg
