    Default 1982 Mustang GT - Medium Red/Porno Red - 15k Mile Survivor

Time to list my car now that all the winter detailing work is done. I would like to start here before I resort to Facebook, BaT, Ebay or possibly Mecum. I hope to find someone that will preserve the car for what it is. PLEASE....do not comment about the price, regardless if you agree or don't agree with it. I am not looking for opinions, I am looking for interested buyers only. Private message me or email me sowaxeman AT jdsaleen DOT com if you want to have a discussion.

Not much needs to be said about this car. It's an original survivor, save for the following items:

*Headlight buckets painted black to match the bumper trim. They were oxidized beyond correction and the black looked better to me.
*Red halo headrests, because that is how it should have been! (originals included)
*Replacement radiator (original included if you want to have it re-cored)
*Replacement muffler (rusted out, original included if you really want it)
*Replacement timing cover & water pump (originals included)

I just completed a winter detailing project where I pulled the motor and trans to replace all the leaky seals and gaskets, including:

    *Head Gaskets (were not leaking)
    *Intake Gaskets (were not leaking)
*Oil Pan and Valve Cover Gaskets (of course they leaked!)
*Rear Main Seal (of course it leaked!)
*Trans Input, Output and Top Cover gaskets. (had minor leaks)

So far after ~30 miles and a few hours of running she is proving to be leak free!

Car includes original wheels with ~90's 220 series TRX tires, refurbished wheels with 90's 220 series TRX wheels, original 190 series tires in bags, and LMR 16" TRX reproductions with 2017 Michelin MXM4 tires. Any negotiation below my asking price will NOT include the LMR 16" wheels and tires.

AC is completely hooked up with all new O-rings, but will need a recharged if you want it. It was working prior to removal, but I hardly ever used it. Heater core is not hooked up, has not been hooked up since the late 90's.

This car was a Foxtoberfest Best Original winner in 2018. Price is $17,500 which I feel is a fair price for both myself and the buyer....not influence by what has taken place the past few years at Barrett Jackson.

SIGH..........ahh young grasshopper, you have much to learn, hahaha. Just messing with you but you did make me feel old. That is a vintage alarm activation switch. That's how '80s alarms worked. You had a key that you put on your keychain and you inserted in the fender when you got out and turned it to turn on the alarm. It is hard to see exactly but I'm 99.99% sure that's what it is.

Absolutely stunning!!! If it had Recaro's, it would be mine. Mine has 22,000 miles on it, but I think I like the red better. Attachment 132576

I cannot even believe there are cars still in this great of shape

That sure is nice. I think the price is obtainable. I'll be watching for the Bring a Trailer auction, but I think higher end venues like Mecum will probably bring in more money. BaT hasn't been as kind as I would have thought to 4-eyes but then again when was the last time a 15k mile 82GT was on the site.
    82 Mercury Capri - 11.99 @ 112, AFR headed Mountaineer motor
86 Mustang LX Coupe - the original Coyote swap 4-eye. Gone but not forgotten!

Bingo! Typical 70's/early 80's key activated alarm. Turn the key to arm when the doors are shut. Turn the key back to disarm before entering. Its the round key that is still used today on vending machines. The alarm is long gone, but can't remove the key cylinder without some body work and paint.

It already sold...assuming you are talking about the one like mine with T-tops in Sound Bend? A fellow Four Eye fan (and believe member here) bought it and took it home to Fort Wayne, IN two weeks ago.

You already have a Recaro car with T-tops....now you need to add a red interior hardtop. Hell, I'll deliver it so I can see the rest of your collection

I agree....but I'll wait until life gets back to some sort of normalcy before spending any $$ to list the car. Hell, I have a car "committed" to purchase since March now that I am just waiting to be able to go fetch. Looking like after June 1 at this point.

Mecum may seem like more $$$ but with fees it may be less $$$. BaT is a good reflection but they are much kinder to non 4 eyes, my 85GT 25K miles one went for less than 10K. It was super nice but had some minor changes. Like a dummy I did no reserve and regret that. FB is free but major tire kickers. Listing here is a good free idea and may get the word out to the right person. Ebay may be your best bet for exposure and best upside but there are many flakes there. I sold a different fox last week off classic cars dot com for near full asking price but it was on there for several months.

I've always liked Jason's car. Sure it needs a few * tweaks * but don't think the asking price is too crazy.

Curious what you would "tweak" about it? Or are you referring that at 157hp it is just TOO stock

Well the heater core bypass is a biggie, headrest change(minor), I like everything else about the car. Actually, I haven't seen pictures of it in about 5 years (link above doesn't seem to be working), but let it be known I think its among the Top Ten '82s in the country

Hmmm...link is working for me and I believe others. Yeah I get the heater core thing, but for it not being a driver and tucked away for the winters I've never seen a reason to go through the trouble to take the dash out. Now that I have pulled/reinstalled the motor & trans, maybe down the road if I kept the car I would tackle it.
