So im in the process of restoring my dads 88 mustang and trying to figure out what parts i need for the a/c which will probably be one of the last systems i end up getting around to, but one of the largest headaches. It had factory a/c and the 980 compressors seem to be going for $300-600 for nos. And ill still be dealing with a 32 year old part. Junk yard a/c is cheaper, but still just as old. And i plan on charging everything with 134. If i try rock or any of my local parts places, the only thing in stock is for dealer a/c. Ive been considering this idea because its way cheaper and i managed to acquire a dealer compressor mounting bracket off my spare motor. Id have to fabricate the comp-cond hogh pressure hose, BUT more importantly, the dealer comps use 1 wire to the coil where factory a/c uses a 2 wire connector. Long story longer, has anyone else run into this issue? How did you fix it? Or are there any ideas that might work in therory?
