    Default windage and oil level?

Just trying to figure out a mystery. I normally have oil pressure (mechanical gauge) hot at 40psi idle and 50 and up around 1800rpm.

I can drive around at 55 and less all day and that is what I get.

Drive on the highway at 70 for 15 minutes and the oil pressure sits nicely at 50psi the whole time, doesn't budge, get off the highway and it drops down to 30 psi at idle for a little bit but just a short time of driving around town and it is back to its old 40psi at idle.

At 70 my car is sitting at about 2200rpm. 55 maybe 1800 or something like that.

Could that possible 'froth' my oil? That is the only thing I can think of...

It might be that the oil is getting hotter and thinner at highway speeds, and then cooling off after driving slower for a while. You could check this with an oil temperature gauge, and who doesn't want another gauge in the cockpit?
How recently have you changed the oil and filter?

Froth? Only way to know is to see it. Quick read of dipstick for bubbles when suspecting froth event?

Have Autometer Sport Comp 2 1/4" 270° sweep, braided line, in the Ranger 2.3
Valvoline 5w30 blend or full syn and FL-1A filter, nothing else.

    Cold- 60-80#, 2200 up, idle about 40#

Warmed up, temp above 32°- 50-55#, 2200 up, idle 22-25#

Very cold freezing or below zero days, engine warmed up, 55-60 @2200 up, idle 35-40 no less.
    Hot weather 85°+, 1-2 pounds less, 51-21

Rarely any in-between readings. Idle reading and max reading happen almost immediately upon rev..
The pressure windows under above conditions have been consistent since gauge install in 2000.
Steady readings are affected by heat, temperature. Type of oil, pump, its relief valve-spring, engine clearances.

Mustang 2.3T came with a blinking hot oil warning light. Temperature trigger unknown.
Manual says if light is on, stop and rev engine at something like 2000 rpm.
Came on once. Freeway, 3rd gear, prob 5000 rpm for few miles. Playing race car.
Stopped the craziness and oil temp light went off within a mile.

Oil temp is an interesting idea. I run mobile 1 0w40 synthetic. Does nobody else see this? My engine runs very cool, so cool the computer has issues deciding to admit the motor is warmed up.

I get the same reliable outcomes but the weird highway thing is confusing.
