We're the same way. I am still working as I am in LE so in a high risk exposure environment. But, even though I am now over 50 I am not worried about me- I jut don't want to gift my elderly neighbors or relatives with it. Stores have sneeze guards between customers and clerks.

Just a thought- For years people have been complaining about things like cell phones causing a lack of interaction on a personal level and now that is where we have to be- impersonal. Kind of ironic in a way.

Stay healthy. Be careful but not paranoid! A family does not need 20 cases of TP...

Default Hope the overused 'going viral' expression falls out of favor quickly

    Virus gone viral.
Indoors, can drift for hours in air currents, then someone walks thru it. Dispersed outdoors by wind currents.

    Virus size in microns

The local news here says certain businesses, classified as essential, may be a part of the steep rise of sickheads in the city of Detroit.
High concentration of liquor stores (1000+), which also sell tons of lottery tickets. Gospel churchs were traditional busy places.
Casinos downtown are closed. Seen basketball courts, park picnic tables caution taped off.
In metro Detroit, the auto is the main mode of transportation. No real mass transit system was ever done.
Busses link the big cities with the burbs up to a point. More routes in the older suburbs.

At Michigan SOS (DMV) no walk-in service. Offices are closed till 4/22/20.
Appointments are cancelled. 25,000 a month have to visit office to renew. Online renewal said to be very slow now.
Many will have to drive with expired. State says they do not have authority to extend due dates.
Border crossings between Michigan and Canada are limited to essential travel only.

Lots of email from subscribed stores with info and coupons. Banks are drive thru or atm only.
Lots of car dealers have temp closed or shorter hours. Some have parts and service open.
Online shopping is now a big help to most everyone, and at the same time a real problem.
People over ordering or hourding are not, causing back orders buying up needed items before they reach the stores.

Keeping my distance from spots that are frequently visited. TP shelves, sanitizer, bottled water, public restrooms.
Gloves and caution using any public data entry keypads, self checkouts, frozen food glass doors.
No standing in any lines. Will walk around until they go away. I do not use a cell phone for phone calls.
Once home from store, am washing all packaged items before storage.

Staying away from medical facilities just to gawk. Friend near a hospital says she does not hear many sirens anymore.
Us old folk (not elderly yet) get to enjoy staying home more, with constant planning on how to do that to the max.
Social distancing is now common. Have to get people to talk louder so we can hear them. No more whispering.

Good time to slow down a bit and not break any arms or get injured working on our prized possessions.

Funny how they've been pushing mass transit for years. Guess they never thought it's a great way to spread an epidemic. DMV is closed here in Illinois too. We renewed plates for 2 cars due 4/1. But I think they extended or are not going to enforce expired plates while this is going on. Chicago has closed all parks, walking/running trails and the entire lakefront.

They just passed a retail plastic bag ban here in Jersey (not effective for over a year), OOPS!!!!!!!!
I had been re-using those things from everything to lunch bags, car receipt folder "enhancers"
(when your folder can't handle 20 grand worth of paperwork anymore), and even paint masking
    or chemical cleaning "placemat".

Now I'm going to have to buy 15 different plastic products, probably, to get the same uses.

Just did a web page search looking for virus 'heat' maps locally. Hot spots, 50 mile radius from home.
Did find one site (local east side newspaper) for that side of town. Color coded like a weather storm map.

Some lists of specific business and address found with possible exposures.
Mostly chain restaurants visited in early March.
One walmart, movie theater, ymca, hockey arena, main airport, one indoor sports facility.
Why is this not done at the neighborhood level? What, privacy laws?

Make sure to clean those plastic credit, id, debit cards, keys, eyeglass frames, phones, ear buds, tv remotes, zippers, fitbits.
Try to help keep our sanitation workers healthy and tidy up that trash.

Detroit's downtown riverfront convention center was to host the North American Auto Show in June.
Is being converted to a FEMA field hospital. 2.4 mil sq ft complex. Annual Autorama is held there.

    Thumbs up

Went to 5 stores nearby. Been 8 days last out.
Kroger, Aldi, Menards, Meijer, Home Depot.
No lines, light shopper count for time of day.
Many more masked shoppers. Everyone was respectful.
Most had gloves. Some no ppe.
Suspect more have traveled away from their home area hot spot to shop.
Kept change from purchase in one pocket to use at the next store.

Washed every package once home. Threw bags away.
No items were selected from front rows of shelf.

Seen a car with NY plates pull into one of the parking lots. I got the h out of there.

    Most impressive-HD
Homer buckets hanging at every lot shopping cart corral for used ppe. Seen gloves, masks.
50 customers max at one time and they were counting. Was #49.
Enter at main entrance only, exit at lumber only. Cashiers had long arms.
Self checkout, paint service desk were taped off.
HD and Aldi had floor marked with an X at the checkouts. HD did it outside the door too.
Passed on tp at Kroger. Not needed, not my brand. They asked at checkout if any was needed.
Did pick up a 10 pk of blue gloves at HD for upcoming summer projects. Made in Malaysia.

County health dept map of tested only shows 2 more + since yesterday in my zip code.
    Total 7 positive out of 15,587, .04%.
So far, chart for county map has 4 levels. 0-.03, .03-.08, .08-.25, .25-.54

Was very windy in SE Mich the other day. Power outs on and off all day in some areas.
A little unnerving for stay in place people with a lot of perishable food stored.

Yeah, I tend to think along the same lines at times, but then I think that you can control most of those other things. You really can't control whether or not if you get the virus, unless you stay at home and don't come in contact...with anyone. But unfortunately that's not realistic for most people. People will get the virus. And most of them will get better. The high risk people are the ones who need to be staying at home.
If they take my stapler, then I'll set the building on fire...

17 confirmed cases in my county of over 150,000 people. The news makes it sound like Armageddon. Most people seem to think its a bit over sold at this point. Guess time will tell. Hope everyone stays safe and all this is over soon!

Where I live, the province of Ontario shared their projections of the death rate over the next 2 years. They said it could range from 3000-15,000.

Just so we are clear here .....

An evil dictatorship country that has been trying to bury us in debt for years ...... they are getting their ass handed to them economically despite all of their efforts to manipulate their currency and the overall situation

same country manufactures a virus and unleashes it on the public starting a pandemic

The very same country hides the situation for a long time allowing the infections to spread

The very same country has a stronghold on the world health organization

the very same country loans our stupid ass government money for the single larges bill in history which had almost zero transparency

this of course after our government shuts the entire damn country down .... crashing all the markets and making assets available for pennies on the dollar

Hmm, anyone else see a pattern here? It’s about money and control and nothing else.

Every damn dollar they’ve ever loaned this country has all been in the hopes of overthrowing the government. Call it what it is - an act of war. Tell them off and stop making the damn payments. If they don’t like it, nuke their leaders .....

Or at least that’s what my history lessons have taught me to observe.

If there was one ounce of transparency there will be antibody test kits distributed so death rates can be correctly calculated. Don’t hold your breath

I see now that they are post-mortem testing for the covid virus, anyone who dies for whatever reason. This includes accidental deaths, other medical conditions and for persons who exhibited no symptoms of the virus. So if a person dies from drowning or physical trauma in an auto accident, heart attack, cancer, etc. and then test positive for the virus post-mortem, that death is added to the covid related total. This seems, to me, to be a misrepresentation of the facts. https://www.courant.com/breaking-new...rua-story.html

Received Rock Auto parts shipments via regular FedEx today. Driver wore gloves.
Was out in the yard and instructed him to set them on the sun drenched picnic table.
Two boxes from Syracuse NY and Moorestown NJ warehouses.
Lovely but i knew where they were coming from and had a plan.
After an hour, opened and slowly unpacked both outside wearing gloves. There was a breeze out. Good.
Sort of treated the shipments like boxes of fresh dog crap or worse as week old cat litter boxes.
Washed the #279 Red 1963 Ford Fairlane wagon car magnet. Very cool to get them. Like a prize.

Leaving the unboxed parts outside sheltered for few days just to be safe. No bugs allowed in house.
Most of the parts were sourced from USA or Mexico. Motorcraft, Centric, Standard, National, Edelmann, Moog.
The Raybestos China ones prob have been stocked in US for a long time but all were recently handled.
WVE dist cap and rotor coming from Fort Worth TX via USPS.

    Michigan until April 30 tentative
    No golf
    No lawn services

After April 10, 2020, travel between two residences is not permitted.
    No travel to vacation rentals.
    No tobacco shops
    1000.00 fines for gathering

The order requires large stores to close areas dedicated to furniture, carpeting, plant nurseries, paint, and garden centers.
    Paint? Garden supplies?

The governor ordered that large stores must limit the number of people in the store at a time to no more than four customers for every 1,000 square feet of customer floor space.

When it comes to small stores, they must limit capacity to 25% of their total capacity, including employees.
