    Default 86 vert double din

    Hello!

Does anyone know of a radio install kit that will allow a double din touch screen to fit? I’ve found some for the aero nose but can’t seem to find anything for the 4 eye..Name: IMG_3787.jpg

There's no way to install a double din in the Four Eye dash without major surgery to the dash itself.

You can install one of the motorized screen units that will give you a 1.5 DIN or maybe even a Double DIN, but even that will take some work. The stock radio opening is pretty recessed into the lower dash and you will have to build out the area to get the screen to clear. Just went through all of that on Erratic50's dash to fit his motorized screen. Looks good now, but I have more hours into that modification that I would like to remember.

Major surgery sounds horrible! More power to you for putting all those hours in!! I’m thinking I might just buy a regular stereo after just browsing over your stuff...

If you want the bigger screen as I do, then a flip out/motorized unit may be an option. As I stated you will most likely need a thick spacer to space the head unit far enough forward for the screen to clear the lip of the dash directly above it. Otherwise its a simple install.

Something like this might work for you. https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item...en-VX3518.html

Spacer wise you will most likely need something like this: https://www.qualitymobilevideo.com/9...hoCymkQAvD_BwE

    Or This: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-CXVYnY...xoCcocQAvD_BwE

Every install will be different and will take some fabrication to make it all fit and work well. Good Luck!

I've been eyeing the new floating screen radios. Alpine has the Halo series, which are a little pricey. They also have the ALPINE iLX series at a decent price point. Example: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_500ILX...-ILX-F309.html

Looks like Sony has jumped into this game too: https://www.geek.com/tech/sony-cramm...tereo-1799773/

The only way is gonna be a motorized unit. Alpine, clarion, kenwood, Jenson, dual, etc.

Personally I’m running alpine IVA D300 unit. Just have to set the motorized screen to forward and it is fine.
