    Default New ball joints/control arms?

I was doing some maintenance on the SVO yesterday and noticed that my ball joints are shot. I don’t know if it would be easier for me to buy a whole control arm or if the ball joints are easy to change/replace, or even where to get them since I think someone mentioned the SVO has a different arm length than the standard fox body. Any suggestions?

Not so easy to replace. Do a search here and you will find about 3 options.

SVO ball joints are a non service item.

Swapping to SN95 arms is an option.

Swapping to SN95 aftermarket tubular arms is an option.

Machining the SVO control arm for SN95 ball joints is an option.

Good Used SVO control arms might be an option if you can find them.

I suspect the SN95 arms would be the easiest option, compared to machine work and trying to locate used ones. I assume that I should be able to find a how to if I search it?

edit: found the rough write up on the maximum Motorsports site with the balljoint adaptors. Only question that it leaves me is will that cause any issues with sway bar end links?

Think I’ll probably just snag some SN95 arms at the yard this weekend and some 4 cylinder springs from the 92 in the yard until I have tires and road legal status on this thing

I don't believe you will have any issues with the sway bar end links and the location in the SN95 control arms. I can't guarantee they are an exact match in regards to the end link hole in the A arm, but close enough that there shouldn't be any issues.

I am probably going the same route with my 84 SVO. I do have a friend with a machine shop that might be able to do the machine work on the OEM control arms to install the SN95 ball joints, but we haven't talked about it quite yet. Good Luck!

Ordered the adaptors today, planning on hitting the yard this weekend to grab some 4 cylinder front springs and not completely dead SN95 arms

You’ll need to swap struts as well. The SVO struts are longer and will hit the SN control arms because they aren’t open below the strut like the SVO arms.

Guess it’s a good thing that some idiot put some eBay quality Monroe’s on the car instead of rebuilding the konis then. I ended up ordering the control arms for a 95 GT and some MM adaptors
