Default 1985 Mustang Convertible windshield trim removal.

How do you remove the windshield trim on an ‘85 convertible?
I have gotten to the point where I have loosened the top portion but I am unable to remove them because they seem the be attached at the A-pillars.
The trim on sides, do they come off similar to the other fox body window trim?
    Thanks!

No screws holding the vertical pieces on. Just 2 screws on the top header piece on each end and the middle screw. I just checked all 4 pieces I have waiting for powder coating

Good to know no screw. I really need to remove all the window trim on my 88 vert and restore them.

As stated above about removal. I've done this also in restoring my 1985 GT vert and chose not to re-install that thin outside perimeter rubber gasket piece. Instead I chose to lay down some 3/4" caulk tape underneath the perimeter windshield trim and it has worked flawlessly for several years now. What part of H-town are you in?

I live near Memorial City. I get to the south side quite often though. I from the Galveston area and have family still there.

Moving on to figuring out the door trim now.

I was able to get the upper door trim off. Just not the lower. To be perfectly honest, I’m afraid to force it.

There are two pieces of trim on the door. One holds the outer dew wipe. I was able to remove that one by pulling straight up on it.
The other piece is just below that one. One some models it is held in with a screw at the end and is slid off after removal of that screw.
No such screw exists on convertibles. Apparently it must pop off somehow.

I assume you are talking about the trim piece that sits flat on top of the door just outside of where the dew wipe is as seen in the attached picture. This piece is vert specific and I think a variation thereof also came on the LX cars. It is aluminum and it will bend easily, so don't force it. It is held on with plastic pieces under the trim that fit into another plastic piece which secures within a hole and/or holes in the door. I can't remember but think there is also an attaching screw under the side rear view mirror, so you will need to take that off anyway to keep from damaging the piece...they are hard to find these days and the repos are steel and not aluminum. When you pry up on it the plastic pieces will break. The trim is slotted underneath to allow the plastic insert piece to slide into position and align with the other plastic piece in the hole of the door. When I did mine about 8 years ago, the upper slotted plastic piece was available, but the plastic piece that fits down into the holes were not. No biggie as my fix works better and keeps water from getting into those holes and down within the cavity of the door. I bought rubber grommets...through the firewall type grommets...that insert into the holes and the upper sliding plastic piece just secures into the grommet. The rubber grommet is basically an o-ring that the outside diameter has a slot in it that allows it to secure within the hole. I want to say it was a 1/4"-1/8"-1/8"...or something along those lines...but you can do a search and find my post from back when I went through that should you decide to go that route.
