Thanks for adding me. My story:
Back in the fall of 1983 I came down with a bad case of double pneumonia. Literally coughing up blood. Thought I was going to suffocate. At the time I was smoking about 1 1/2 packs of cigarettes a day. I quit smoking and did what the doctor said. It took a month or so to recover fully.
By January 1984 I realized that I now had a lot of extra money in my bank account that had previously been spent on cigarettes. In fact it was enough to cover a car payment. I went to look at several Mustang GT's at various car dealers in and around Dallas, TX. I nearly bought a '82 5.0 GT that had a manual four speed (OD type) transmission. I noticed at the last minute that the rear seal was leaking a lot of oil so I didn't buy that car.
At Town East Ford I saw a pristine 1983 white Mustang 5.0 GT that had come off lease. It had nearly 9,000 miles on it. Options included the midyear T5 transmission, red velour + vinyl interior and AC, cruise, tilt and T tops. That was my car.
It had the T - tops stolen repeatedly. I do not know how many times, maybe 4 or 5 total. I finally drilled the mechanism and installed screws so the thieves would not be able to remove them as easily.
Sorry I sold it. I kept that car until 1989 and still miss it (except the T-tops).
