You just need to know which bulbs you need. They are great for any non LED car including parking , brake , tail or turn signals. They also make a unique LED headlight bulb for model A's. Model A headlights work GREAT.

Appreciate it. Do you know what type of bulb specifically for the the dash backlights off hand? I'm guessing "Instrument Panel" from their finder tool, but even then - there's 4 different options....ugh. Overload on choices.

I've done a bunch of LED's on my Subaru WRX daily, but I'm a lot more picky with the fox - Apologies for the 50 questions in advance everyone, just want to make sure everything is juuuuust right.

Super helpful KevinK, thanks - don’t know how I missed that!

I think I’m going to go Zen50’s route and leave the colored diffusers in place to keep it as true to the OEM color as possible, and most importantly - not risk breaking them. The link above has been bookmarked. I’ll probably replace the under hood bulb, licence plate, dome, etc.

I’ll be sure to do before/after shots when I get there.

If anyone wants this - Here is the bulb chart from the 86' owners manual.

    Appreciate everyones recommendations.

I wrapped this up last night, and it looks 10x better. I opted to remove the 5 red plastic filters from the cluster and tucked them away for safe keeping. I used 5x red for backlight, 2x green for the signals, one blue for the high beams, and 3x warm for the "warning" lights.

I do have bulbs for the climate control box as well, but after unscrewing it and playing for a couple minutes....I decided that's for another day. I didn't want to pull too hard, or go in blind.

As for removing the cluster - I reached underneath the dash and stuck my hand up to remove the speedo cable as opposed to reaching behind the cluster, which made it muuuuuch easier. There wasn't much slack.

Photos don't do much justice here for color accuracy. Very deep, vibrant red....and dimmable.

    Thanks guys!

Even the turn signals and high beam indicator look laser sharp. What a difference.

This is the bulb I used for all the 194's, just pick your colors.

You could probably get away with leaving the diffusers in place, but I would 100% take them out. The bulbs just barely touch, and I didn't want to obscure any of the fresh light.

    FYI:

With the car running, the cluster lights do not dim.

If you pull the knob by itself with the car off, they do.

I think this is because of how little power the LED's draw compared to incandescent.

NOT a deal breaker for me, but may be for some. The improved looks outweigh this small hiccup IMO - you can always change them back if you want.

I used the white. Had 1 extra bulb that I didn't use from the kit yet. I'm thinking about using it in the check engine light socket. That's usually the one that lights up in that TC. I have videos of before and after but, I couldn't get them to load. In the after video, I realized that I had the one bulb backwards and had to turn it around.
