Default SROD Transmission Fluid & Capacity

Fire up the way-back machine Anyone know the capacity and type of transmission fluid that is specified for the Tremec SROD? I've found mixed results online and in here...dating back to 2014. Type-F, Redline MTL, Autozone shows ATF+4 or Dexron/Merc.

I have mine out to replace the gaskets. I assume I can simply refill from the top before I put the cover back on....anyone know how much it requires or do I just fill until hit's what I think is the fill-plug on the passenger side? I have a tail-shaft plug and speedo port plug so leakage won't be an issue on the re-installation.

If memory serves me....2 1/2 quarts is what I used last time my engine was out.... Ive tried several fluid types but Redline MT-90 made a world of difference in the way mine shifts and sounds. Mind you Im not one of the 200 nitrous shot twin turbo guys as my car is a cruiser... I just filled mine from the fill port, but it was already in the car.

They hold 4.5 pints (US) I just used Motorcraft Manual Transmission lube ( ESP-M2C83-C ) This part number might need to be superseded
