Finally decided to pull the gauge cluster and see why the lights were so dim that I needed a flashlight to read them at night. Spent a couple hrs reading through old posts for a fix. Bulbs were good, but I put new ones in anyway. No luck. Found wire for the lights and measured voltage. They were getting 12v with the dimmer switch on high, and turning dimmer lowered voltage as expected. After a little cleaning of contacts and fiddling, it seems like they're all working now, but still not anywhere as bright as they should be. I went ahead and ordered led's.

Wired up the reverse lights in the pace car (t5 swap). Also fixed a wiring issue with the turn signals.

Sask, that looks great! I've got one sitting in the garage right now I'm working on. In fact, I came here to comment that I set up my first 8.8 today, with a little help from a neighbor friend (retired mechanic). I still need to do the final assembly and then start cleaning up the case.

    Thanks Bronco!
Dropped the 7.5 out of the car. First time doing it and did it alone. Little nerve wracking but it came out pretty well. Now onto removing rest of the control arms to replace with new ones.

Just finished up the 8.8 rebuild. All painted up, 3.73 gears installed, new 31-spline carrier, wheel cylinders, and upper control arm bushings.

I might start on pulling the old (but also recently rebuilt) 8.8 out tonight, so I can install this one tomorrow.

I may just take the one I'm pulling out and re-gear it for the 79 cobra. It's a 3.27, but I have another 3.73 and a 4.10 lying around.

Once again, beautiful work there, Sask84gt!

I got the fresh 8.8 installed. I'll let it sit till morning before topping off with fluid, but everything else is ready to go. Curious to see how much difference I can feel, going from a 3.27 to a 3.73.

Got the dash mounted tach wired up. STILL waiting for the bell housing to arrive. It shipped this last week after being ordered in May? June? I forget.
Going to run the HEI dizzy off the old tach key on hot wire. Going to run the FI system and electric carb pump off the heavier key on hot that went to the old Duraspark.
If I just had a driveline installed.

Possibly! This car was set up for making most of its power in the upper rpm range. From a stop, the 3.27 just doesn't put it up there where it wants to be.

Put 5mm hub centric spacers on my fronts, and the wheels clear the calipers just fine. Still plenty left on the studs as well.
Also finally finished my parking brake cables.

    So sometimes you really wonder.

My mutt four eyed had a disgusting smell and the worst faded porno red interior.

Took the seats out then the carpet, then I found something I've never ever seen.

One of the previous owners, when they swapped out the grey interior for the red, decided that under the carpet he should put old grocery store ads, judging by the dates around 10-15 years ago. So yeah it got wet, it smelt amazing, and it developed a ton of nice pinholes and rot.

    Oh yeah and mouse nests.

Wasted an hour doing most peoples least favorite thing.
Replaced the torque pins in the window motor that went bad last Sunday.
Sometimes I regret adding power windows to the car. This is one of those times.
Never had one that created these nubs in the gear. Dremeled them down should be OK.
Cleaning the old grease out and taking the door apart is what I hate the most.

Lots of FREE F/Z info on my site.
