'79 accelerator pedal arm different than '85-93 ?

I'm trying to put a 5spd accelerator pedal on, the top of the pedal is loose like it needs the tension spring but this '85-93 pedal never used one-is the arm assembly different-what gives

IIRC, the 79 pedal is different, yes. What are you running on the other end? Carb, CFI, MPEFI?

Carb-i guess i'll have to put the original auto pedal back on for now, thanks for the reply
