    Default Oil pan brand thoughts

Through JEGS, I ordered the Proform 7 qt pan. It arrived damaged, so returned it and got a replacement. The replacement hits the oil pump so does not fit. Waiting for return label to send it back. Done with Proform.

Thinking of the 6 qt JEGS brand pan 50290 (part number 555-50290). Per them it will work. I HAVE to use a pan with a dipstick provision because my block does not have one. Car will be street use primarily. Stock oil pump. This will be going in the Granada.

There is also this one by Hamburger that includes the pickup- https://www.jegs.com/i/Hamburgers/497/3080/10002/-1

Anyone used that pan or would you recommend Moroso, etc? If so, which part#? As soon as I have the bottom end buttoned up I can flip the block and install my heads, intake, ...

Little more expensive than your Hamburgers setup, but an excellent quality pan for the price.

Those are nice, but I am hoping to spend less if possible. I would even be just fine with a five quart stock pan if it had a dipstick provision.

JEGS tried to sell me their brand of one.

If I had it to do again, I would try to get one that keeps the crank from turning the oil into a frothy mess. They have a name but I can't remember anymore...

A crank scraper or screen is what does that. The JEGS pan has one installed already. But their oil pump pickup is back ordered until sometime after christmas.
The Weiand pan looks like a great deal for the price, and they make decent stuff. I don't plan on any 'official' drag racing, but that pan will still work great on the street! Think I will go for it!

Thanks, Trey! I did an online search and missed that! The JEGS pan was $211 plus $70 for the oil pump pickup. It was only a 6 qt, but did have a scraper/screen installed. Not a big deal for me since it is mainly a fun street car. Or will be...

Well, that sucks. Weiand pan arrived today. Went out to to test fit/install. The tube is not welded parallel to the oil pump mounting flange so the tube is almost an inch high over the main cap bolt it is supposed to secure to.

Even with the supplied gasket, the round part of the pan that fits over the front and rear is too narrow- even with 20 + pounds of pressure the pan won't contact the block rail. So, impossible to seal the oil in.

Why are parts made so poorly??
