    Default guy claims 6K. I see 1/2 that $

Not in the custom of fleebay/CL buys - I guess palPal is the only safe way? A middle man holds the $ (2wk? 21 days?) till both R satisfied?

Anyway, guy offers a waggy for 6K$: "This is the best nation wide, etc", etc. I don't care, just don't want one I do alot of body/interior wrk. Mechanical, yes, I'll redo everything. BUT w/no trailer I'd appreciate one? many? 5 or 8 hrs driving days back to my locale.

Does 5 or 6 K$ seem reasonable for one of these? Pretty standard w/o mods. Pic = looks in #1 of the 4 or 5 point scale.

Thank you for ur input !

It depends on how badly you want it. I know you've been searching for a while . When I do long distance car deals I have a written purchase agreement signed by both parties and then send a cashier's check for a down payment and then pay the balance in cash when I pick the car up.

"... depends on how badly you want it..."
good answ. So much depends on mitigating factors...

"...a written purchase agreement signed by both parties..." new 1 on me.
This is done by fax/mail/e-maill B4 the mailed ck (& show-up/remainder paid)? What's typical wording?
    Thnx Kevin.

I type up a purchase agreement that basically says I agree to by XXXX car with VIN XXXX from XXXX owner and then spell out the price and how it will be paid for. There is a little more to it, but not much. Then I print two copies and sign them and mail them to the seller. The seller signs one and sends it back to me. Then I send a check. Would it hold up in court? No clue. I've never had to test it. At the very least it lays out the specifics of the purchase so there isn't any grey area later. I've done five deals like this on cars no less than 1000 miles away (last one was north of Los Angeles, my LTD wagon was out in Seattle) over the last 20 or so years. Fly in and drive it home. I don't like buying rusty junk up here.

    Then DO NOT BUY IT!

If you are unwilling to go look at the item in person you don't need it.

If the item is too far away that you are unwilling to go look in person then don't look at Ebay and CL ads that far away from home.

Airfare or gas are cheap so hit the road to look at a vehicle you are interested in purchasing and you won't have to worry about getting screwed!

If you do get screwed the only person you will have to blame is yourself!

I agree, I tried to read it 3 times and still don't fully understand it, now I have a headache.
