Default 1980 LHD Ghia in Japan

    Hello from Japan,
After 9 years of living out here, I came across this white 1980 Ghia coupe that was imported by Ford Japan. It only has 70k km and the 255 is quite smooth and starts first try everytime.

I bought it sight unseen from a dealers auction on the other side of the country. Old cars and American cars are a bit more difficult to transport, so the transport costs to get it to me were more than what I paid for the car. I wanted to drive it from the auction, but at a 16 hour drive it was better not to risk it.

From the door card decoder, I found that it seems to be all original. It was repainted but I'm not sure how accurate the shade of white is on the respray. Polar white with Carriage roof, Medium red interior, 255 with C4, 2.26:1 rear end.

Interesting how they added additional amber turn signals to the rear, they also had to add an exhaust temp light to the dash.

Very nice. Lots of details not often seen. Looks loaded with options.

Thanks! It seems to have a lot of options, power windows/locks, cassette deck, power antenna, cruise control. I even found some pictures of the original owner with date stamps from 1985 in the center console.
I was initially wanting to swap it and run something a little more powerful, but with scarcity of old SBF and Fox parts, I figure I'll leave it as is and use it as a nice cruiser.
I'll take some pictures of the Ford Japan stickers and the engine bay to post later.

My car too had the JDM package, which was similar for 1981.

It had the "EXH" exhaust light, the 100 km/h chimes, Autorama Ford Telstar repeater lights at the front, the same Continental fold back rear vision mirrors with specially cast alloy transom, 1979 - 1982 Australian Fairlane amber lights.

Your Buck code will have JPN and 9DD on it for paint code, just like mine.
