    Default 1980 Zephyr Z7 project

Here are some pics of the current project. Winter has settled in, so it looks like getting anymore work done is on hold for know, which is perfect as I have a basement/garage full of parts for it. Once it's all done it'll be a 351W/5 speed combo, 4 wheel discs, traction lock, power everything, a/c daily in the summer.

The day it came home. Once I get the latest pictures off my phone, I'll add to the thread.

So a soaked carpet led to this, which started it all. After finding out that both windows leaked like sieves, pulled resealed and reinstalled. Managed to crack the windshield in the so that was a fun day. After getting that done, the plan was a quick swap of the C4 to the T5. Previous owner missteps led to the motor coming out, and it all snowballed from there. Currently it sits with a V8 k member, SN95 spindles, and all new bushings/struts/springs up front.

In the process of replacing the k member, found the typical strut tower rot. Ordered the repair kit, burned it in, and called it a weekend.

And that's how it sits for now. Turning my attention to interior stuff that I can work on over the winter. I've got a set of 85 GT seats that I'll be recovering in the correct Light Chamois fabric, and getting the console and plastics squared away.

1974 351 with the accessory drive set off of a 96. For fueling I'll be running a FiTech unit. All the A/C components are later fox Mustang pieces with custom hoses to run to the FS10 compressor, and a 3G alternator upgrade. Custom decals for the valve covers...can't have a Mercury without the Mercury Man!

Small update this week. When I purchased the car, the p.o.had spray painted the dash plastics black. Not the look I preferred. Found the vinyl on Amazon, and thought what was the worst that could happen? It's not perfect, but a whole lot better until I get new dash pieces. The gauges were faded out as well, and I wasn't happy with that. I found a company that makes white face over lays for them, and shot them an email to see if they could do a stock style set. Again, not perfect, but a whole lot better than before! Last little bit I've been working on is polishing up the marker lights. Haven't decided which set I'm going to use yet, so why not get both of them ready.
