    Default Hood Scoop

    Hi All,
Received my mini boss hood scoop yesterday, it seems to be a quality piece. Hand layer fiber glass with gel coat top.
I have never painted over gel coat and need to know how to prep it for paint.
    Thanks,
    ed

From my recollection, scuff with scotch brite pad, prime and paint. Of course, I'm trying to remember over 20 years ago

Make sure to clean it well with wax/grease remover before starting to sand. You want to make sure you get any and all release agents off the part before moving forward. You can also use more aggressive stuff such as MEK if you have it, works very well, but is strong stuff. Once you have cleaned the parts completely then you should need nothing more than what Conmech mentioned above, sand prime, possibly sand again and paint. Good Luck!
