Looks very nice. How much does a repaint (assuming good quality) hurt value of a Saleen?

Well considering this car isn’t a very low mileage car with 84k miles, I’d have to think it’s not hurting the value, providing the paint job is as good as what he said in the description. This isn’t original Shelby prices. My 86 Saleen has 45k on it with about 85% original paint and it has its fair share of nicks & stone chips.
Heh..the seller printed out a shot of my 'registry'.

IMHO, repaint vs original affects value by ~10%.
A super-hi-quality "taken apart" repaint isn't too bad, but 90% of repaints aren't done that way.
This one does appear to be done right, and is probably worth the price...
With that said, there's a few hiccups, the biggest of which is the incorrect rear wing. Add in the pedals, rear STB, C/C plates, dash crack, wires, cable, hoses, etc that have been changed along with the 84k miles and you start to wonder what else you're missing. It's not really restored or modified, but it certainly won't pass as "original"... I think marketing it as a "very rare mostly original time capsule" really creates a bit of an identity issue...
It's a nice car, and I certainly hope he gets the $ though.

1986 Saleen #145
now 50k miles - still 98% original.
I'm all for helping the helpless, but I don't give a rat's ass about the clueless anymore.

In all reality, the wing is the only thing worth considering. Anything else is easily removable.
Paint like that can run around 10k here, so I’ll take a well painted car that needs a wing all day long. Even if the proper wing is 500 bucks it’s still not a thing.
85 Saleen Mustang(s)
Yeah, some interesting info you captured there, Mick. Would have been nice to get the car with original paint (assuming it was decent) for less than $10k a few yrs ago.
Saleen didn’t paint the axle housings red, did they?
Thanks for the comments. Bidding is up to $18k now. It would be cool to own a Saleen, but I don’t ever see myself wanting one that badly.
